Dry Skin Brushing Instructions

Dry skin brushing is an easy, fast, no-cost way to keep your skin soft and youthful and enhance your inner glow! It assists the whole body in detoxification, and the light touch stimulates lymphatic flow for immune system health.

Your skin is alive, and is your body’s largest multifunctional organ. Skin brushing supports the elimination of excess wastes and toxins through increasing circulation.  It stimulates the lymph system, increases blood circulation in underlying organs and tissues, and contributes to better elimination of fat deposits such as cellulite.

Dry skin brushing is rejuvenating and powerfully affects the nervous system by awakening the nerve endings in your skin.

If you do not have a brush you can use a dry wash cloth.

Dry skin brushing instructions:

Brush before you shower, bathe, sauna, hot tub, swim or sunbathe. Successful invigorating skin brushing is done by breathing deep, in and out from your belly. Brushing should alway start at the extremeties, working towards the heart.

1.  Holding the brush in your right hand, place your right foot on a stool, chair or toilet seat. Begin brushing the sole of your foot and move up your leg using gentle upward circular motions, always brushing toward your heart area.

2.  Next, brush your right buttocks, right hip, low back and abdomen in the same circular motion. Then, extend your left arm and brush your left hand, the length of your arm, shoulder and back. Gently circle your left breast and chest area. These steps will have taken only 2-3 minutes; you are half way.

3.  Switch the brush to your left hand repeating the above steps while brushing your other side. You can spend more time on areas you feel may need extra attention such as your knees, hips, buttocks and thighs. When the skin becomes a pinkish hue this is a good sign of increased circulation.

4.  To cleanse and purify your brush, rinse with water and a drop of mild soap, or wipe down with witch hazel and a clean smooth cotton cloth. To dry, leave brush in the sun or on top of your dryer.

Daily dry skin brushing can help keep your skin healthy, vibrant and efficient. It can:

  • remove dead skin cells
  • cleanse the pores
  • stimulate the hormone and oil-producing glands in the skin
  • help keep the skin soft, supple and youthful
  • help improve circulation (thereby aiding the entire body)
  • help improve muscle tone
  • have an important influence on the nervous system through stimulation of nerve endings
  • assist the body in removal of toxins
  • therefore, generally help improve health and vitality
