Clinical Study ALERT-Anxiety may be in your GUT, not in your head! (retrieved from www.icontact-archive.com, 5/17/11)

Hamilton, ON (May 17, 2011) - For the first time, researchers at McMaster University have conclusive evidence that bacteria residing in the gut influence brain chemistry and behaviour.
The findings are important because several common types of gastrointestinal disease, including irritable bowel syndrome, are frequently associated with anxiety or depression. In addition there has been speculation that some psychiatric disorders, such as late onset autism, may be associated with an abnormal bacterial content in the gut.

Elson M. Haas, MD, author of How To Cleanse and Detoxify Your Body Today!

FREE DOWNLOAD : How to Cleanse and Detoxify Your Body Today (571KB PDF)

Dr. Haas received his medical training from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He moved to California in 1972 and joined with Dr. Irving Oyle and Dr. Martin Rossman at the Bolinas Health Service to study the philosophy of healing. There, they observed the treatment of the entire or whole being, initially referred to as Holistic Medicine.

After studying the effects of therapies they used, Dr. Haas created his own programs in nutrition, herbology and detoxification. These programs led to the development of classes, newsletters and, ultimately, the publications of his first book, Staying Healthy with the Seasons (Celestial Arts), now in 1984, Dr. Haas became Medical Director of the Preventive Medical Center of Marin, located in San Rafael, California, north of San Francisco. Since its inception, the Center has thrived and grown to become a model of integrated health care in the modern world. He has worked with thousands of patients at the Center using the detoxification and cleansing methods about which he has written. Currently his practice blends natural therapies including nutrition, bodywork and acupuncture with the Western model to create what he terms Integrated Medicine.

What is Bowel Transit Time?

Transit time, also known as bowel transit time, is simply the time it takes for the food you eat to pass through the entire digestive tract, from the moment it is swallowed, to the point it leaves in a bowel movement. Since healthy functioning of our digestive system and its related organs are critical to optimal health, testing transit time is a simple and effective way to detect potential imbalances that may lead to future symptoms and disease. Simply stated, the frequency of your bowel movements is a clear indication of your overall health.

Is Dysbiosis robbing your health? (Pt. 1: Fermentation)

Intestinal “dysbiosis” (means “not living together in harmony”) is a very common condition that is egregiously undiagnosed in today’s population. Without a proper understanding of what dysbiosis actually is, and the contributing factors that lead to the condition, most people and health care practitioners actually end up managing the symptoms of dysbiosis, and never actually treat the root cause. Dysbiosis left untreated will become a chronic condition. Consequently, it will weaken the entire body setting it up for a cascade of health problems, and ultimately degenerative illness and disease. Recent research is now listing dysbiosis as the cause of arthritis, diarrhea, autoimmune illness, B12 deficiency, chronic fatigue syndrome, cystic acne, the early stages of colon and breast cancer, eczema, food allergy and food sensitivity, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, psoriasis, and steatorrhea.
